Why would your students do another qualification if they’re already at university?
Degree = long-term professional qualification.
Cert IV = practical building/site knowledge they can use now to help get their foot in the door earlier.
The aim is to give them something they can use now. Practical training can help students start working in their chosen field while they’re still studying and give them something different to bring to the table when they’re competing for internships, cadetships, traineeships and early-career roles. It can also mean by the time they graduate they are hitting the industry with two or three years of relevant industry experience already behind them! Imagine having that back when we were studying!
This isn’t about replacing university or competing with it. It’s about helping students get into their industry sooner.

How are students supposed to fit it in?
We build our opportunities around school and university schedules.
The idea is one thing at a time. This isn’t about piling another crazy workload onto students who already have enough going on.
What will students actually get out of it?
A head start. They can build practical skills, add something meaningful to their CV and have far more to talk about when an employer asks, “What experience do you have?”
The bigger goal is to put students in a stronger position to get their foot in the door early, whether that’s through a cadetship, traineeship, internship or relevant work in their field, rather than waiting until the end of their studies to start building a career.
Is this just more study for the sake of study?
Absolutely not. This is study for the sake of getting out of retail and hospitality work and into the field they actually want to work in.

How do you know whether it’s right for one of our students?
We speak with every student one-on-one. We want to understand what they’re studying now, what their goals are, where they want to take their career and what they realistically have capacity for. Then we talk through the options that genuinely make sense for them.
Who delivers the training?
We work with a handful of trusted RTOs that share our focus on practical training, quality delivery and high standards. We work with students who are choosing to go above and beyond, so we’re selective about who we introduce them to.
Do we need to explain all of this to students ourselves?
No. We have an online booking system where students can choose a time that suits them and speak with us directly. You share the opportunity. We handle the conversations from there. No course explaining. No answering endless questions. No extra admin for your team.
Are students going to get chased to enrol?
No. We don’t pressure students into anything and we don’t chase people. They can come and pick our brains, hear what’s available and decide whether it’s right for them. If we don’t think it’s a good fit, we’ll say so. We expect the student to do the same.
What do we actually need to do?
Share the opportunity and let student interest do the rest. If there isn’t any, that’s OK too! Each school and university has different cohorts, with different goals. This is about putting an opportunity in front of people, and if they want to find out more they can.
